The Army
Cadet Force is not a part of the Army. However it does use
the uniforms, traditions and badges of rank of its Regular
and Territorial Army sponsors. All adults in the ACF are
youth workers. There's no danger of military "call
up". We are not part of HM Forces they just
generously provide us with kit, free of charge to you.

Name:
Lt Will Parker
Age: 27
(despite looking much older and acting much younger)
When and
Why did you decide to join cadets?
""I decided to join the cadets when I left university in 2006. I had spent 5 years in the CCF and missed the cadets. Joining the ACF has given me a passion for volunteering and since 2006 I have also joined the TA and
recently commissioned into the Royal Artillery."
What
have you done in cadets?
"Since joining, I spent a short time in C Company as the Detachment Commander in Seacroft. In 2007 I moved to Northallerton at A Coy HQ and have been the Detachment Commander there ever since. I have had an active involvement in as many camps as possible and also have enjoyed many shooting and Colts Canter weekends and competitions. In 2009 I commissioned as a 2Lt ACF and more recently gained promotion to Lt."
What has been the most enjoyable part of cadets?
"I really enjoy the weekend camps, especially the FTXs. I enjoy putting the cadets through more challenging scenarios where leadership and determination is paramount and it really brings out the best in the cadets. The most enjoyable thing is meeting your ex-cadets that are now succeeding in life or in the Regular Army. I take pride in the thought that I may have had something to do with their development."
