Signals Cadre - Annual Camp 2011
|
With
a new County Signals Officer at the helm,
Lieutenant Jason Kitching was more than
satisfied with what he saw from the fourteen
plus cadets from across the county taking part
in the Cross Flags Cadre during Annual Camp at Sennybridge,
South Wales.
With stalwarts CSI Paul Shillitoe and SI Steve
Turner who worked extremely hard to cover the
training programme.
Day
one covered Cadet Radio User theory and
practical, swiftly followed by an exam resulting
in twelve out of fourteen achieving a pass (2
were already qualified).

Three
Senior Cadets from E Company attended Frimley
Park in April to take part in the Master Cadet
Course. James
Derry, Libby Dougan and Joe Rowley all took part
in what is a demanding course designed to test
an individual's abilities such as leadership,
decision making, initiative, ability to
communicate effectively.
All three cadets were successful in
achieving the highest accolade available to
cadets and congratulations go to them for all
their hard work.

ARMY CADETS GET THE MESSAGE!
|
Army Cadet Force Instructors
Rory Romani and Marcus Harper whose full time
employment is as Police Constables with West
Yorkshire Police seized the opportunity to
deliver the harsh yet factual message of knife
and gun crime in the UK and in particular the
kids that get caught up in this type of crime.
The moment the cadets entered the room they were
seated facing a screen with a picture of a brick
wall and a graffiti painted message “THINK LIFE,
NOT KNIFE!”

Weekend”
As told by our very
own Cadets
|
Our first
Company weekend on 23rd January 2009
and I was on One Star training and hoping to pass
some subjects towards my One Star.
We arrived at
our County Head Quarters on Friday and did our
usual which was settle into our rooms and then
meet for a briefing about what the weekend would
hold and where and when our lessons were.
On the Saturday
we woke early for breakfast and Corporal Harrison
who was room leader made sure the Wakefield room
was very clean for inspection.

Cadets Cause a Riot!
|
One of the very
different demonstrations at this year’s annual
camp consisted of two ACF instructors giving the
cadets an insight into the pitfalls of street
crime and how the Police respond to the very
serious issues surrounding street gangs.
Lieutenant
Max Harper and Sergeant Rory Romani who are both
police officers in the Armed Response Division
of West Yorkshire Police created a ‘gang’
scenario with the help of a handful of willing
senior cadets posing as “bad lads” out on the
streets

The Force is
strong in the Cadets from Wakefield detachment!
|
Cadets from Wakefield
detachment were “nicked” by West Yorkshire
Police on Sunday 20th July but not
because they were playing at ‘bad lads army’;
rather the opposite, as they showed what
upstanding pillars of society they are when they
were ‘nicked’ to assist police officers during a
force presentation day held in Carr Gate.
The police head quarters was
the setting for the jam packed event for men and
women already serving within the police force to
get the opportunity of gathering more
information for the different divisions within
the force.

There’s
nothing Alien about E.T!
|
Shaiba
Camp, Catterick was invaded with visions of blue,
green, orange indeed a multitude of colourful
tents as both D and E Company landed on May 23rd
and took up residence ready for their weekend
Expedition Training across the surrounding area.
Day
one saw the 2 stars receive training on all the
elements of Map & Compass within the make
shift classrooms. The cadets were then split into
small groups to prepare route cards and work out
compass readings from maps that they would use the
following day on a practice walk.
